The City of Ekurhuleni has dismissed an additional nine waste collection workers for disrupting waste collection, intimidation of workers and damage to property.
According to Themba Gadebe, metro spokesperson, the additional nine employees were notified of their dismissal late yesterday, February 3.
“The City is implementing an operational plan for clearing of waste collection backlog that might have occurred due to the disruptive nature of the affected employees’ conduct,” said Gadebe.
“Safety of employees who are at work and the municipal property remains of paramount importance for continued rendering of the services in a normal environment.”
