Fifty new firefighters ready for duty

“These intakes are in line with the City’s vision to empower the youth and specifically the women in the employment domain.” - the metro

The City of Ekurhuleni’s Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) emergency division recently announced the appointment of 50 new firefighters to augment the numbers in different fire stations cross the City.

“Due to vacant spaces created by promotions and resignations of the work force, the City filled the empty vacancies by absorbing the department’s reserve force members to permanent positions,” said Wiliam Ntladi, media liaison of DEMS.

“They were all given their rank markings and welcomed in the service by executive manager of operations Lifty Ngoepe in the standing in for the divisional head of emergency services Mhlengi Makhubalo.

“The new members’ appointment started on November 1 and for the past several days, they all underwent induction and orientation processes.

“With these new appointees, the division will be able to fast-track the services rendered to the community of Ekurhuleni and beyond. The entire group resonated commitment and dedication in their new role,” said Ntladi.
