Blues forward takes top accolade at awards evening

Elsewhere, u-11 player Lebron Correira walked away with a framed Bafana Bafana jumper signed by former Bafana forward Sibusiso Zuma after being the lucky victor of a raffle draw.

Boksburg Football Club’s u-17 striker Mthokozisi Mkhatshwa was named the Player of the Year at the club’s end-of-year function at Prince George Park on November 9.

It was a well-deserved scoop by the lanky forward, who led the Blues’ charge to the title with his multiple goals.

The Blues would eventually fall short of the title, instead settling for third following a slow start to their campaign.

Mkhatshwa was joined by his teammates Thapelo Seforo and Shiven Chetty in the winners’ category on the night, with the duo walking away with the Players Player of the Year and Most Improved Player of the Year awards respectively.

Quizzed on his stars’ rewarded campaign, Blues coach Ernest Seforo said: “Congratulations for the great season and achievement they obtained, it was a collective effort from the team.”
