Police investigate a number of armed robberies

In one case, A Reiger Park man was robbed of his cellphone by a gang of thugs, on October 24. The victim was walking along Middle Street, on his way to work, when the robbers held him at gunpoint, grabbed and pushed him to the ground before taking his Alcatel cellphone.

• A gunman robbed staff at KFC on corner Trichardts Road and Commissioner Street during the early hours of October 27. It was at about 4.40am when the cashier heard someone cocking a gun and aimed it at them.

The criminal jumped the counter and stole an undisclosed amount of money.

 

• A van Dyk Park man was robbed of R20 000 and his work laptop by a gang of criminals as he was driving along Jubilee Road, near the city stadium on October 24.

The victim had just withdrawn the money from an ATM at East Rand Mall, when he noticed a silver Golf behind his car flashing lights.

He pulled over and four men robbed him at gunpoint. It’s believed that the robbers apparently followed the victim from the bank.
