Germiston Flying Squad arrest two in Boksburg for possession of stolen motor vehicles

Members of Germiston Flying Squad arrested two suspects on Wednesday, October 2  in different incidents for  the possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

According to Constable Ntombikayise Ngcobo, communication officer of the flying squad, the one arrest followed after warrant officers Victor Masingi and Lucky Shabalala along with sergeant Lesley Popela flagged down a white Toyota Atios which had three occupants inside.

“The driver was signaled to stop on Strand Loper in Windmill Park and the driver obliged. However, as soon as the vehicle  came to halt, the driver with the front left passenger jumped out and ran off,” said Ngcobo.

“The back seat passenger remained in the car.”

He said the officers approached the Atios and upon investigation the remaining occupant (25) was found with the firearm in his hands.

“He was instructed to get out of the vehicle and the firearm found in his possession was a silver Noricho handgun, with nine live ammunition inside the magazine. They searched the Atios and also found a brown Revolver 32 special with serial number and eight live ammunition.

“They them discovered the brown revolver was stolen in Vorsterloop in 2015 and the white Toyota Atios carried a false registration. The vehicle was stolen in April.”

* Ngcobo said in another incident on the same day, warrant officer  Muzomuhle Hlela and sergeant Bongani Makuleni together with two members from Graphite Tactical security company chased and arrested a man (35) for possession of a Silver Toyota Hilux double cap that was reportedly stolen in Boksburg.

“The silver Hilux bakkie was reportedly stolen by three unknown males who were driving a white RS3 Audi . Members got a complaint and saw the same bakkie fitting the description given to them passing and they chased and managed to stop the bakkie with a man inside.

“He was arrested for possession of stolen motor vehicle. The stolen vehicle taken to SAPS storage camp in Benoni.”

The Germiston Flying Squad Unit commander, Lt Col Madimetja Kgole thanked the members: “Well done for putting the safety and security of our community at heart”.
