Man defrauds victim of R20 000

The detective branch commander, Col Solomon Meso, commended the members for their hard work in arresting the suspect.

A 31-year-old man from Benoni has been arrested by the Boksburg North police, after allegedly defrauding his victim of R20 000.

The 47-year-old victim apparently transferred an amount of R20 000 from FNB East Rand Mall branch to the suspect on July 4.

According to Boksburg North SAPS, the victim, Justice Ramaube, was under the impression that he was paying to lease two trucks that were allegedly promised by the suspect.

“On July 12, when the victim realised that he had been defrauded, he opened a case of fraud at the Boksburg North SAPS.

“Investigations were done until the arrest of the suspect in Benoni on September 9 by Det/Const Mike Baloyi and Det/Const Lucky Hlongoane,” Ramaube said.

Ramaube said during the investigation it was discovered that the 31-year-old suspect defrauded clients, who believed that he had a company that rented or leased trucks and trailers.

The suspect was detained at Boksburg North SAPS and will appear at the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
