Dagga plants, seeds and fertilizers seized in Parkdene house

The estimated value of the dagga confiscated is R60 000.

Several dagga plants, final product dagga, seeds and fertilizers were found at a house at Parkdene in Boksburg on Monday,  August 12.

Chief superintendent Wilfred Kgasago, EMPD spokesperson, said a woman (39) was arrested for suspected possession and dealing in dagga.

“The woman claimed that the dagga was planted with the sole aim of producing dagga oil for her personal use,” said Kgasago.

“The suspect was handcuffed by the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit members and charged at Boksburg police station.”

He said a thorough search of the house also revealed the final product dagga but no dagga oil was found.

“The quantities produced and purported to be for dagga oil producing for personal use was found to be too huge to justify the suspect’s claims.

“Moreover, the fact that no dagga oil was found on the premises created a reasonable suspicion that the dagga was produced with the objective of selling it.”

The suspect was charged with possession and dealing in dagga and she is expected to appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
