Cook and Culture: Celebrating Women’s Month

August is Women’s Month, so we want to celebrate the ladies. Here are some tips and tricks to keep you sexy, smart and social.

Digital

There are many entrepreneurs in our midst, and we have the perfect app for you to make marketing just a little bit easier. Download Canva, where you can create new logos, flyers, social media posts, business cards and so much more, with easy to use templates and designs.

Steamy Remedy

Ladies and our metro-males, we know it’s important to keep your skin healthy, but sometimes our delicate faces suffer under all the product and cleaning scrubs and foams. So, keep it simple and steam your face once a week to remove all the impurities. Pour hot water into the sink, and place your face under a towel, and steam away. You can also add some eucalyptus oil to open up your sinuses. To stay dreamy, remember to steamy.

Pro Tip

It is 2019 and a lot of us are fortunate to work in environments where there is no formal dress code. But remember, you feel good when you look good. Keep things professional and classy. Make sure you are well groomed, keep your shoes and your hair clean. Make sure your nails are neat and a little bit of breath mint goes a long way.

Food for Thought

Prioritise yourself. Self-care is a priority and necessity and not a luxury in your life.

Quick Pesto

Sunel’s brother, Manie Gilliland, spoiled her with this recipe that he made, and she just had to share it with you. This is a delicious basil pesto that is easy to make, and easy on your wallet.

You will need:

  • 3 cups of fresh basil leaves
  • ¾ cup of olive oil
  • ½ cup of fresh Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves of fresh garlic Salt to taste

Place the basil in a food processor and add a dash of the olive oil and all the Parmesan, garlic and salt. Put on the processor and let the ingredients mix, while slowly adding the rest of the olive oil until the pesto is the desired consistency. This makes roughly 200 ml of pesto and you can keep it in a glass jar in the fridge for up to four weeks.

  • If you’re feeling fancy, you can add pine nuts. This is quite expensive, but will give some extra crunch and flavour.
