Aspiring netball player receives financial support

A lack of money to pay for her trip almost shattered her dream.

Witkoppie Ridge resident, Bryan Pollen, the founder of KhulumaThando “Speak Love” Foundation and his team, have responded to Sarah Malaka’s plea for financial assistance to help fulfill her wish.

The Grade 12 learner from Windmill Park Secondary School has been selected to represent Ekurhuleni in the biggest u-21 national netball championships at the University of Johannesburg which will run from August 4 to 10.

The Advertiser on June 28 published Sarah’s appeal to the public to sponsor her seven-day trip.

Responding to the article, the KhulumaThando “Speak Love” Foundation donated R5 000 towards Sarah’s trip, which will cover her meals and accommodation.

According to Pollen, they decided to sponsor Sarah’s trip because as a foundation their core value is to see people reach for their dreams.

“We have reached out and touched so many lives in such a short space of time with the help of sponsors.

“Our vision is to empower the community through love. It’s not very often that you find girls that are brave enough to ask for help in the newspaper, so this showed us that she is determined,” Pollen said.

Sarah expressed her gratitude for the donation.
