Help support Zelni to achieve her netball dream

Exceptional netball players who play super league and provincial netball from around the country are identified through coaches and parents and are invited to attend an international tournament, where they play against players from the host nation, England, Canada, Australia and the Caribbean.

Impala Park netball star Zelni Mulder has been selected to participate in an international netball tournament scheduled to take place in Orlando, Florida, USA, in December 2020.

The tournament is organised by Visions in Education.

The costs of the tournament are, however, quite steep. The total cost per player estimated around the region of R50 000. The amount includes flights, visas, compulsory insurance, a full kit (dresses, travelling uniform, shoes, back packs), accommodation, meals, attendance at the tournament, costs for all compulsory outings and some pocket money for the 12-day period.

Anyone interested in sponsorship and assisting in making Zelni’s journey a reality can contact her mother, Zelda, on 079 266 6634.

Michelle Saville, the South African coordinator of the tour, said: “Zelni plays netball at a very high standard and has worked extremely hard to reach this level of performance.

“This is the first international tournament that she will attend. For all the selected players, this is an opportunity of a lifetime.”

The opportunity that awaits the selected few includes being exposed to international coaches and scouts; the tour also provides the players to play and learn from other international players, and offers a significant addition to one’s résumé.

A total of 18 players from the country were taken to the US for the same tour in October 2018, a tour which saw two players from the group selected to play for South Africa in their respective age groups.
