Miss Inspire Woman title winner seeks to be a positive role model

The ambitious local winner, who has described herself as a goddess, said when she is not at work or not busy with a community project, she is away travelling.

Student counsellor at Unisa and Boksburg North resident Mamashu Mabowa was recently crowned Miss Inspire Woman 2019.

The crowning ceremony was held at Boat Deck in Benoni.

The aim of the pageant was to inspire and encourage young women of South Africa to advance and empower themselves to be the best. It also aimed to inspire young women to be part of positive solutions on issues affecting them and their communities and be positive role models.

The 33-year-old is a proud mother of two boys, who she says keep her going in life. She is also doing her master’s in psychology through Unisa.

Mabowa, who tried her luck for the first time by entering the pageant, said her journey has been overwhelming yet exciting.

“Some of the activities or duties I had to do was to be involved in community work to empower both young girls and boys.

“The pageant allowed one to visit orphanages, old age homes, hospitals and daycare centres to help with their daily activities and give a message of hope to those who need it.”

According to Mabowa, what set her apart from the other contestants in the competition was that she is a pusher.

“I am someone who, when I put my mind to something, I leave no stone unturned to make a success of it.”

“The focus of the pageant is mainly to empower young women. However, as the mother of two boys, I challenged the judges by introducing the platform to empower young men because I believe that they won’t be empowered if they are not taught.

“I believe that the brokenness of our country is in the brokenness of our young men. By empowering them our country can be a better place for all,” she said.

She won a hamper that included skincare products, a spa voucher and an overnight bag.

The mother of two said the support she received from family and friends was overwhelming.

“Through their support, I was awarded the public choice and charity queen certificate that came as part of their voting.”

“Since I won the competition I will continue to carry out my duties with diligence, pride and purpose to inspire communities. I will continue to market the pageant to ensure that more women enter in 2020,” she said.
