Remember to enter your team for the 2019 Cansa Relay for Life

The East Rand community will be hosting the eighth annual Cansa Relay For Life next year on March 8 and 9.

The theme for the 2019 Cancer Relay to be held at the Boksburg Stadium will be Relay Olympics.

According to Yolandi Jacobs, the community mobiliser fund-raising developer East Rand, at the heart of the relay, which takes place annually in Boksburg, is the opportunity to celebrate cancer survivors, to remember those who have left us and create awareness about cancer.

Jacobs said new times have been introduced – 7pm to 7am- so that all can be in time for the opening ceremony.

The relay opens with the emotional moving Survivor’s Lap of Honour, followed b the registered teams and survivors participating in the non-stop walking of laps.

“We are also very excited that it will be back at the Boksburg Stadium,” said Jacobs.

The 2018 Cansa Relay for Life took place at PG Park for the first time.

Entry fee is R1 200 per team.

“Now is also the time to do your pre-fund-raising before the day and also stand the chance to win prizes for the most raised.

“Last year we had 47 teams and 134 cancer survivors. Our aim this year is to have at least 60 teams and 200 cancer survivors.
“We challenge the community to support this incredible cause and to come out in numbers.”

Invite to survivors:

The Relay for Life will start with a survivor function at 4.30pm for 5pm. All survivors of cancer are invited to join the day’s activities as a VIP guest.

Organisers are aiming for 200 survivors to be present during the Relay for Life.
