Once again, the Reiger Park police have on January 16 destroyed 837 litres of alcohol seized from illegal shebeens in the precinct.
The booze was confiscated from different communities during separate raids on unlicensed taverns over the past few months.
Despite public outcry from those opposed to the disposal of booze, the police carried out a number of other alcohol destruction at the station last year.
In May last year, The Reiger Park police disposed of 2 000 litres of booze in their storage facility.
Those opposed to the way police get rid of the booze commented on our social media platforms, saying the alcohol should be sold and the money raised donated to charity projects.
The Reiger Park SAPS spokesperson, Const Jan Mokwana, said raiding illegal shebeens in their precinct is part of their efforts to make communities a safer place.
