Curro Holdings has announced the appointment of Lisa Dowds as the first executive head of Curro Academy Parkdene.
As executive head at the school, Dowds will oversee the pre-primary, primary and high schools.
Dowds has a strong leadership background in both business and education and is currently completing her final honours year in education management.
After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the North-West University she travelled extensively. Her love of travel led her to join the Flight Centre group when she returned to South Africa, and she worked her way up through the company to managing her own branch.
“My passion for training and mentoring that I developed over the years was accelerated through lecturing at Damelin and Varsity College,” said Dowds.
She completed her postgraduate certificate in education and was appointed as head of department at Dowerglen High School, thereafter being appointed as principal in 2015.
Dowds believes that there is always something new to learn.
“I am committed to enhancing the South African education system and is looking forward to taking up her new position with Curro Holdings.”
Outside of work, her goals are to obtain her doctorate degree and to write and illustrate a children’s book.
