Watch: Strike action leaves a trail of destruction in Jet Park

The attacks reportedly happened on Yaldwyn Road this morning (November 30).

A group of people believed to be part of an ongoing plastics industry strike stormed Jet Park and destroyed properties, including trucks and light motor vehicles, this morning.

According to a source, who claims that he witnessed the incidents, the group  arrived in the area and started throwing petrol bombs at passing trucks and light motor vehicles driving along the area.

“The attack lasted for a few minutes and the group ran away before the police arrived,” said the witness.

Paramedics were on the scene, with a medical helicopter dispatched to Jet Park.

The Advertiser is waiting for comment from law enforcement.

* On Monday, three truckers sustained minor injuries after their trucks were torched at the intersection of Isando and Monteer roads in Isando Ekurhuleni.

According to William Ntladi from disaster and emergency management services, firefighters from five fire stations using six fire engines, promptly responded to the scene for intervention.

“As per information on scene, the three trucks were torched by striking employees from the plastic industries. Apparently, they used petrol bombs to set them alight before fleeing from the scene.
