Metro suspends group chief financial officer

Further investigations are being conducted by the City and should be concluded within the next three months.

The Ekurhuleni metro on Thursday, October 25, took the decision to suspend Gugu Pride Malaza, the group chief financial officer of the City.

According to Phakamile Mbengashe, acting spokesperson of the mayor, the city manager issued Malaza on Friday, October 26 with a letter requesting her to provide reasons as to why she should not be suspended.

“Upon receiving a response from Malaza, the city manager found that there was no basis for her not to be suspended. She was suspended effectively on Monday,  October 29,” said Mbengashe.

Mbengashe said Malaza has been suspended pending the finalization of an investigation into alleged non-disclosure of information regarding her dismissal from the South African Broadcasting Corporation as required by Regulation 11 of the Systems Act of 2000.
