CBC canter to Tembisa win

Skipper Casey Arnold and Dylan Bennie were the two men standing for CBC with respective scores of 25 and 23 as they overhauled Tembisa’s vulnerable target.

CBC Old Boys claimed their second bonus point win in as many games with a routine eight-wicket win over Tembisa at CBC College.

The Eastern Cricket Premier League clash unfolded on October 21.

Having won the pre-match coin toss, the visitors opted to bat before making their innings a total shambles: collapsing to 78 all-out after 21.4 overs.

CBC deliverer Carlton Mdluli had a lot of influence in Tembisa’s implosion behind the crease, all but single-handedly eliminating the visitors’ batting order as he finished with 5/19, including one maiden in six of his 10 allotted bowling overs.

Mdluli’s teammates Devon Botha 2/25 and 2/10 completed the swift mission as the CBC batting order licked its lips.

The writing was on the wall for the visitors and the hosts took them out of their misery in 13.2 overs, finishing with 80/2.

Following the frustration of Sherwyn Pillay, who was caught by the visitors’ Kyle Degambur after just two runs, fellow opener Mark Pearse raced to 29 in 18 balls to get his side back on track.
