Walk in Reiger Park pays tribute to cancer survivors

Cancer survivors and community members wearing pink walked through the streets of Reiger Park to raise awareness of cancer.

The Reiger Park Cancer Support Group hosted their annual cancer awareness event in Reiger Park recently.

According to Ulita Billings, founder of the support group, they also wanted to pay tribute to cancer survivors, patients and those who died from cancer.

After the walk, the group moved to the Reiger Park Clinic where they mobilised and tested people for high blood pressure, vitals, cholesterol, diabetes, HIV, breast cancer and cervical cancer (Pap smear).

Men were also educated on how to examine themselves to check if they had any signs of cancer.

The Reiger Park Aerobics showed off with their moves and End Times Dancers entertained the crowned while they waited to get tested.

Food and drinks were also on sale, in aid of the Reiger Park Cancer Support Group.

“We thank everyone that came through and we hope they have learned something today about cancer,” Billings said.
