Boksburg left rooted to the bottom of the soccer league

A rampant Luso Africa outfit was deservedly crowned champions as they claimed an impressive 3-2 away win against Benoni Northerns for their 20th victory of the campaign. Africa finishes on 63 points, six clear of Randburg.

Kempton Park Football Club denied the Boksburg Football Club a consolation win in the league’s last round of play.

The home side defeated the hapless Blues 2-1 to keep them rooted at the base of the log table with 17 points from their total 25 outings.

Thato Mahasa netted for the visitors after 28 minutes.

Kempton has finished the campaign in eighth position with 31 points.

The Blues now face possible relegation to the Premier League, pending on a final judgement by Easterns, the league’s controlling body.

This is after Corinthians pulled out of the league in the early stages of the second round of the season.

Asked for his final thoughts following the disappointing campaign, Blues coach Ernest Seforo said: “I contributed a lot, I did a lot. I had to start from scratch with the team when I came in and the first round didn’t go well. In the second round, the team started gaining stability and we started getting a few wins and two draws.

“But then players got injured and some missed training due to other commitments. I had to deal with new players again.

“If the commitment was there, we’d be talking a different story.”
