Boksburg South junior football star Duane Bennett has joined Kaizer Chiefs youth squad.
Bennett, 12, was scouted by Chiefs’ onlookers a few weeks ago in a game against the Glamour Boys while featuring for his old team, Mpumalanga Black Aces during a SAFA league encounter.
He explained: “I was playing for my old team Black Aces and I saw my father speaking with Brian Baloyi and the head coach.
“After the game, my father told me that I had been invited to go to train at Naturena the following Tuesday.
“When I found out that we were going to play Chiefs, I wanted to prove myself. So I went on that Tuesday to train, and on Wednesday I played my first friendly match and played well.
“I’m in a good team with good coaches. I knew from the moment I heard the news that I had to deliver and do my best.”
He made his official debut against Elpark Football Club late last month. – @SabeloBoksburg
