Locally produced digital series Thesha wins award in South Korea
The 10-episode web series Thesha is based on the story of two best friends, both unsure about their future, who set out to carve their own path by seeking to make it big in the music industry.
The award-winning digital series, Thesha, remains unstoppable as it continues to move from continent to continent collecting awards and making their brand known globally.
Locally produced film and web series Thesha recently won in the Best International Drama category at the Park Hotel Habio in Seoul, South Korea
In April, the crew won in the Best International Web Series category at the Vancouver Web Fest in Canada.
Lebogang Montso, who represented the Thesha team in Seoul, said: “I did not imagine how big these awards were. Thesha went head to head with 200 other creators from around the world. The web content is now the future and being at the forefront of this movement is a blessing.
“I believe I represented my team and our project well, as everyone wanted to learn more about the series and our country. The audience enjoyed a glimpse into the South African youth culture through the editing style, music and through the storytelling.
“Audiences enjoyed the narrative style, which told the story through flashbacks and voice-over.”
The Seoul Web Fest is the only international web film festival in Asia where creatives come together to share ideas, promote their productions, meet distributors and educate new audiences.
The team has also been nominated for best drama and best representation of people of colour in a series at the Minnesota Web Fest taking place in September.
The Thesha team is in the pre-production stages of the second season and are excited to be introducing new characters.
