St Dominic’s Catholic School for Girls will be hosting an opera concert on September 8 in the school hall.
According to Neville Smith, head of the music department at St Dominic’s, this concert will be a first in the East Rand.
“It is important for the community to be exposed to this wonderful art form. This will give the children an opportunity to realise there is more out there than just pop music, so it is our intention to preserve the beautiful art of opera,” said Smith.
Smith is a professional opera singer and has sung all over the world.
He will be joined on stage by Johannes Moaisi, Leigh Waters-Maine and Samantha Thomas.
The East Rand Youth Orchestra will also participate in the concert with the St Dominic’s School choir and the Jozi Sings Chorale.
