Metro incubates future water and sanitation professionals

Demonstrations will also illustrate how reduction of waste water directly decreases the energy required to process it.

Water is life as it has been said many times, and conservation of it is preservation of life itself.

According to metro spokesperson, Themba Gadebe, it is against that background that the Ekurhuleni metro will seek to conserve water by transferring water conservation knowledge to the young generation.

“In that regard, the metro in partnership with East Rand Water Care Company (ERWAT) and Rand Water will host a two-day event starting tomorrow Wednesday, August 22 at Germiston Lapa,” said Gadebe.

“School pupils will be educated by professionals in the water sector about water conservation and the various professions in the sector they can aspire to join.

“On Thursday, August 23, at the Springs Civic Hall, the learners will be equipped with knowledge of the water purification process and water cycle so that they can contribute to water conservation as it is required of them both as citizens and future professionals.”

“The water treatment cycle will also outline how water is provided to homes, businesses, farms, and communities.”
