Mother relieved that her son has been spotted

Security technician Theunis de Bruin left work on June 2 at about 1pm and was not seen until now.

The whereabouts of Theunis de Bruin (23) from Boksburg North, who has been missing for two months, is known to the police and family.

De Bruin was spotted on August 9 by someone who saw the photos of him posted on social media.

His mother Alet Smit is relieved and told the Advertiser that she immediately phoned the police.

“I was so happy, I spoke to him on the phone and he is alright.”

Smit opened a missing person’s case at the Boksburg North SAPS. She never gave up hope, although it seemed like she would never see her son again.

“Every time I think I have an answer, I hit a dead end,” said Smit.

“I want to thank everyone who shared his photo on social media, and who helped to look for him.

“If you are looking for a loved one, do not give up, the people in our country really stand together. Someone will see them.”

Detailed information about de Bruins whereabouts is not yet available.

The Advertiser is waiting for official comment from the SAPS.
