Schools come on board to celebrate Mandela Day

On July 18, South Africa celebrated Nelson Mandela's 100th birthday anniversary, and it offered a chance to make a difference in the community.

In celebration of Nelson Mandela’s 100th birthday, learners from Drommedaris Primary School donated canned food, clothes and soup to two organisations in Reiger Park.

According to Linda Radebe, and educator at the school, learners were asked what they wanted to do and they said they wanted to put a smile on people’s faces who are hungry.

The two beneficiaries were St Anthony’s Day Care Centre and the St Anthony’s Day Care Centre for the Aged.
