Dawn Park SAPS arrest suspects allegedly posing as police officers

The four suspects might also possibly be linked to other charges

Four suspects, aged between 25 and 31, were arrested after they were found in possession of police uniform, an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition.

In the early hours of June 27, the Dawn Park SAPS, while patrolling the area, noticed a white Mercedes-Benz vehicle parked at a fuel garage with three suspicious males inside.

Constable Nkemeleng Mabula from Dawn Park SAPS said when the police approached the vehicle the suspects sped off and one suspect was left behind who was allegedly withdrawing money from an ATM.

The police then arrested the suspect.

“The Brakpan and Dawn Park police drove with the suspect to his residential place where they found live ammunition,” said Mabula.

Mabula said further investigation led to the arrest of the man who was driving the Mercedez-Benz at Rondebult Road, who was at the time of the arrest driving another vehicle which had blue lights fitted on the vehicle.

Both suspects pointed out where the other remaining two suspects were residing.

“The other suspects were found in a house in Rondebult where they found the unlicensed firearm, live ammunition and police uniform,” Mabula said.

According to Mabula, the white Mercedes-Benz was found abandoned in Villa Liza and it belonged to a doctor from Brakpan.

The four suspects will appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
