Mobile clinic to provide healthcare in previously disadvantaged areas

The Lazarus Legacy Foundation promotes the ideals of uplifting human dignity that pursues equal access for all to services and solutions that produces a vibrant community.

The Lazarus Legacy Foundation recently launched a mobile clinic to reach out to many of the previously disadvantaged areas on the East Rand, including Boksburg.

According to Kivasha Moodley, executive administrator for the foundation, the clinic will be visiting areas where there are limited resources available.

“Lack of transportation and finance has been identified as one of the most common factors, which prevent the community from acquiring the medical treatment and services needed,” said Moodley.

“The foundation will, therefore, provide healthcare to our communities at large, as we believe that this is a basic human right.”

She said they are in the process of recruiting healthcare staff and thereafter they will be fully operational.

“We are looking for volunteers and also full-time staff. We are also looking for organisations to partner with us so that we can have the sufficient resources to be functional seven days a week.”

Bishop David Lazarus and his wife Neela started the foundation, which mainly focuses on education and health, to leave a lasting legacy.

Lazarus is the presiding bishop of Siloam Ministries in Gauteng.
