Some of the five men accused of ambushing two cash-in-transit vans near the intersection of North Rand and Atlas roads said they will not be applying for bail.
The men made their second court appearance in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on May 28, where the natter was postponed to June 13.
During the brief appearance, one of the accused indicated that he will be applying for bail. Two chose not to apply while the others remained undecided.
The accused, who are undecided, were asked to let the court know what they have decided on, at least a week before the next court appearance date.
The accused are facing charges of robbery with aggravating circumstances, possession of explosives, possession of prohibited firearms, possession of a fully automatic firearm, possession of semi-automatic firearms and 10 attempted murder counts.
The gang reportedly bombed both cash vans, exchanged fire with the G4S guards and stole cash before fleeing the scene.
Different police units reacted and gave chase, which ended at the George Koch Hostel where the five suspects were arrested.
A helicopter was also used during the dramatic chase.
According to Hawks spokesperson Captain Ndivhuwo Malamu, no other arrests have been made so far.
Investigations continue.
