Pastor Rochelle Moodley from Dalpark and her team spent their day (May 12) at the VGK Emmanuel Church in Reiger Park spoiling and pampering members of the Reiger Park Cancer Support Group.

The group consists of over 50 members including cancer survivors and caregivers.

The group has been in existence since 2015 with the aim of breaking the stigma of cancer, providing educational and spiritual support, and educating the community on cancer.

Moodley said she hosted the pampering day for the women so they can for a change relax, as they have been doing remarkable work in the society in touching and saving lives.

She encouraged them to always hold their head high.

Moodley and her team massaged the women while others straightened their hair and did their nails.

One of the members of the group, Rasheeda Chali, said: “I don’t even have words to express how I feel. I felt like a queen today while being pampered.”

Chali joined the group in order to enhance her knowledge about cancer.

“My husband was diagnosed with cancer last year so I took it upon myself to join the group so I can know how to assist him,” she said.

Ulita Billings, founder of the support group, said: “We thank Moodley for her wonderful gesture and also the church for allowing us to use the venue.”

Anyone who is willing to join the group is welcome to attend their meeting at the Lutherian Church (Reiger Park), every second Saturday of the month at 3.30pm.
