The mayor, Mzwandile Masina, will award bursaries to Ekurhuleni’s top matric achievers at the annual Academic Excellence Awards ceremony at Emperors Palace tomorrow (January 24).
With the theme “Building Bridges, Breaking Barriers”, the awards will see top achievers reap the rewards of the dedication and hard work they’ve put in towards achieving academic excellence.
Bursaries, laptops, certificates and trophies will be awarded to the best performing learners, best performing schools and most improved schools, as well as the best performing learners in subject areas.
The mayor will also congratulate graduates who have obtained their tertiary qualifications through the aid of the Ekurhuleni metro bursary scheme.
Exhibition stalls showcasing student support services and home affairs smart card ID desk services will be available to the learners at the function.
