Two more suspects arrested in triple murder case

Do you remember the story about the three men who were earlier this year assaulted and shot dead before their bodies were dumped in an open veld near Commissioner Street, next to the newly established informal settlement opposite Delmore Gardens?

Following a lengthy investigation into the triple murder, on December 16 police arrested two more people believed to be responsible for the crime.

It is believed that the triple murder was committed by a gang of about six men. Two of them were arrested in March after they allegedly fatally shot one of their partners in crime, 29-year-old Nkululeko Zuma, who lived in the informal settlement opposite Delmore Gardens.

According to the Reiger Park SAPS spokesperson, Sgt Mashudu Phathela, members of the station’s crime intelligence unit, Const Joy Nthekang and Sgt Maxwell Siweya, made the latest two arrests.

The suspects were arrested in Extension Nine, Germiston, and both were charged in connection with the crime.

Police launched an investigation into the murders on March 11 after a security officer who was patrolling the area called them when he stumbled upon the bodies lying about two metres away from each other in the veld.

The half-naked bodies all had multiple gunshot and stab wounds.

Police believe the men were killed somewhere else and then dumped in the open veld during the early hours of March 11.

The murdered men were identified as having come from Windmill Park, Tembisa and Daveyton, respectively, and they apparently worked as transport drivers for schoolchildren.

The two new suspects are scheduled to appear in court soon.

Furthermore, it was found that, apart from the vicious killing, the victims were also robbed of their money and that their car, an Opel Astra, was hijacked.

The arrests of the pair led to the discovery of the car in KwaZulu-Natal. The driver was also arrested and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle.
