Metro to welcome Christmas and New Year babies with gifts

While families across the city are unwrapping their presents and commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, and the arrival of 2018, the Ekurhuleni metro will be busy making this year’s Christmas and New Year’s Day special for babies who will be born on those two days.

According to the metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe, senior municipal officials will be visiting several identified hospitals in Ekurhuleni to greet and welcome the new babies to the world with gifts as it is the season to be jolly.

Gadebe stated that the first four babies to be born on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day in each of the hospitals to be visited will receive essential baby hampers and sanitary pads for the mothers.

Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Health and Social Services, Clr Dorah Mlambo will preside over the gift handover ceremony to welcome the new arrivals to the world.

On Christmas day, the City of Ekurhuleni will dispense baby hampers at the Thelle Mogoerane Regional Hospital, J. Dumane Community Health Centre, Pholosong Hospital, Phillip Moyo Community Health Centre, Far East Rand Hospital, KwaThema Community Health Centre and Nokuthela Ngwenya Community Health Centre.

MMC Mlambo will continue with the spirit of giving on New Year’s Day at Tembisa Hospital, Ethafeni Community Health Centre, Esangweni Community Health Centre, Tambo Memorial Hospital, Bertha Gxowa Hospital, Ramokonopi Community Health Centre. -@MthuphaFanie
