Online admission system for late applications for 2018 closing today

The Gauteng Department of Education reminds parents to hurry and apply for their children’s school admissions for 2018.

The online admission application system opened for late applications at 8am on November 1, and will close today, midnight on November 10.

The Education Department said the system was opened to give parents who missed the June 12, deadline an opportunity to apply.

No new applications will be processed in January 2018, as Gauteng schools are full.

Gauteng Department of Education’s spokesperson, Steve Mabona said the system is running smoothly and once again, they urge parents who have not yet applied, to urgently log on to www.gdeadmissions.gov.za.

“Parents who applied during the admissions period in May, who still have not been placed, are urged to visit the district office for placement or email us on gdeinfo@gauteng.gov.za for urgent assistance.

“These parents need not apply as their details are already on the system. Parents are also hereby reminded that several of our schools are full and cannot accept any more learners.

“There are 2 017 Public Ordinary Schools that offer Grade One and Eight. It must be noted that 402 of these schools received applications beyond their school capacity and will not be available to parents to submit late applications,” Mabona said.

“The department has plans to ensure that all applicants that applied on time are placed. Once more, we thank the people of Gauteng for their overwhelming response to our call to utilise the online application system,” said MEC Panyaza Lesufi.
