Ghetto Crossfit makes UWS final

Local fitness club Ghetto Crossfit made it to the finals for the second year running of the United We Stand team event which recently took place in Durban.

UWS is a three-day annual team competition and this year marked its seventh year of existence.

It’s also an affiliate only competition; all teams must train at a registered crossfit affiliate.

Originally formed in 2011, UWS initially had just teams from South Africa compete for the ‘fittest team in SA’ crown but with the global growth of the sport, teams from neighbouring countries like Zimbabwe and Namibia also featured.

This year’s competition had in excess of 950 athletes.

Ghetto Crossfit is a crossfit affiliate and this year was the club’s third time competing at UWS.

After months of hard training, two teams of six athletes travelled to KZN to compete before one of the teams made it to the finals.

While the sought-after podium finishes were not achieved, the Ghetto Crossfit crew is confident they will have a real go to finish in the top 10 come next year.

The event takes place every October.
