Boksburg North police arrested for corruption

Two members of the Boksburg North SAPS were arrested for corruption during a recent drug operation that was conducted by members of Organised Crime Germiston (OCG).

According to the communications officer of the Gauteng Provincial SAPS, Lieut-Col Katlego Mogale, the operation was conducted after the OCG received information on policing members who were allegedly extorting money from drug dealers.

The two police members allegedly received money and fled the scene in a marked police vehicle.

“After a short chase they threw some of the exhibits out the window, but were eventually apprehended and some of the trap money was found in their vehicle.

“Both constables were arrested, and will appear in the Boksburg Magistrates Court on Monday, July 15, on charges of extortion and corruption.”

This incident follows the suspension of two Boksburg North police officers who were caught on camera recently, one seemingly taking a bribe and the other possibly performing a sexual act, during May, this year.
