City plagued by gangs of thugs intent on looting

Beware, gangs of criminals are roaming the city and robbing families.

* A gang of four thugs posing as contractors robbed a Parkdene family of goods worth about R131 000 during a house robbery on Tuesday, September 19.

According to Boksburg SAPS spokesperson Sgt Cebisa Maseko, the men, wearing blue work suits and driving a blue Ford Fiesta, reportedly entered Falcon Crest, in Lanner Street, and approached the victim, who was outside his house.

They told him that they were sent to fix the air-conditioning system.

All of a sudden, the imposters dragged the complainant into the house where they tied him up with a scarf and locked him inside one of the bedrooms.

They then ransacked the house. The stolen items included two laptops and a tablet device.

* Another house in Falcon Crest was robbed and goods worth about R10 000 stolen. Police believe that this burglary was also committed by the fake contractors.

* On September 19, a gang of criminals entered a house in Slatter Street and held the family at gunpoint, before stealing goods worth about R270 000.

According to Maseko, the perpetrators were four men armed with firearms and they stole jewellery, two TV sets, two laptops, cash and other valuable items before fleeing the scene.

No shots were fired and no injuries were reported.

No arrests have been made in connection with all the above cases, but investigations continue.
