According to Boksburg SAPS spokesperson Sgt Cebisa Maseko, the man, who shares the same house with the victim’s family, reportedly touched the girl’s private parts, before dragging her into a room.
“He then reportedly climbed on top of her, apparently with the intention to rape her. The girl, however, fought back by kicking the attacker and managed to escape,” said Maseko.
The victim managed to phone her schoolteacher and reported the incident.
“Along with the police, the teacher went to the address, where the 24-year-old suspect, who could not be identified to safeguard the girl’s identity, was arrested.
q In another sexual assault story, a Jerusalem informal settlement woman (21) told the police that she was on Saturday night, September 9, raped by her sister’s boyfriend and his friend.
Witnesses told the police that they caught the friend of the victim’s sister’s boyfriend busy raping the victim. Police have so far only managed to arrest one of the suspects, the boyfriend of the victim’s sister.
