Case involving sexual abuse at a crèche provisionally closed

The case involving a child who was reportedly sexually abused at a crèche in the Boksburg CBD has been provisionally closed.

Members of the Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit were forced to provisionally close the matter because there is inadequate evidence to support the allegations and to link someone to the crime.

Members of the unit registered a case of sexual abuse after a little girl, who was complaining of pain in her genitals, told her mother that a man sexually abused her with his fingers at the crèche.

“Detectives investigated the possibility of the abuse but they could not find any proof to support the claim,” said the Boksburg SAPS spokesperson, Sgt Cebisa Maseko.

Maseko added the child failed to give a statement to the investigators.

Despite the withdrawal of the sexual assault case at the CBD crèche, Maseko still encourages parents to always monitor the state of their children and immediately report anything suspicious that points to child abuse, to the police. -@Fanie FLK
