Beyers Park’s Mr King eyes international ‘royal’ glory

Dwayne Geldenhuis of Beyers Park, was recently crowned Mr King South Africa.

He has automatically qualified as a finalist in the Mister International 2017 pageant, making him Mister International South Africa 2017.

Dwayne will represent South Africa alongside finalists from across the world in the 12th edition of the Mister International.

The 22-year-old said he has always wanted to be a model so when his friend told him about the pageant, he jumped at the opportunity.

Dwayne has described himself as an artistic, humble and adventurous person. His hobbies are hockey, modelling and keeping fit at the gym.

He matriculated from EG Jansen in 2012 and works as a quality assurance supervisor. The model is also studying towards a degree in architecture, at African Academy.

The Mr King South Africa finale took place at the Brooklyn Theatre in Menlo Park, Pretoria, on June 17.

“The road to being crowned Mr King South Africa wasn’t easy, but I’m glad I pulled it off with the assistance of my loved ones,” said Dwayne.

As part of his pageant duties, Dwayne had to be involved in charity work.

The hunk is set to jet off to Hong Kong later this year to participate as a finalist in Mister International 2017.

“I am definitely looking forward to travelling to Hong Kong, building new friendships and meeting people from different cultures.”

Dwayne said his goals keep him going.

“We all get opportunities in life and it’s what we make of them. I always remain positive – regardless of the challenges I face. I never give up before I reach what I want to achieve,” said Dwayne.

He advises young people never to give up on their dreams.

“Through the power of belief we can all achieve what we want. Don’t give up on opportunities that come your way. “When we reach our goals we should never say, ‘I’ve made it’, but rather ask, ‘What’s next?’ ” Dwayne said.
