Two vehicles stolen in Boksburg; ignition of another car left damaged

The following cases were recently reported to the Boksburg SAPS:

Vehicle theft/attempted vehicle theft

* Thieves forced their way into a residential property in Rondebult Road, Farrar Park, and stole a red Polo Vivo, worth about R179 000, on Friday, July 14.

* A second car was stolen on the same day, from the parking area at Parkrand Piazza Shopping Centre. According to Boksburg SAPS spokesperson Sgt Cebisa Maseko, the owner of the car, a red Nissan Sentra, told the police that when he returned from shopping, about ten minutes after parking his car, the car was gone.

* A Dalpark woman almost had her car stolen at the Lifestyle Shopping Centre, on Saturday, July 15. The woman told the police that she parked her car in the parking area and went into the shopping centre.

She returned to the car a few minutes later to discover that thieves have forced opened one of the doors and stripped the ignition, apparently with the intention to hot wire the car.  The damage to the car is estimated at R5 000.

Security guard robbed

* In the Boksburg East industrial area, a gang of suspects held a security guard at gunpoint and stole his company vehicle, batteries and his personal cellphone, on Friday, July 14.

The guard told the police that he was patrolling at about 11pm, at the company premises in Reservoir Road, when five men confronted him. They threatened him with a firearm and tied him up with wire before making off with the vehicle, batteries and his cellphone.
