Hijacking
* A man had his Volkswagen Citi Golf hijacked by two armed suspects on Main Reef Road, Angelo informal settlement, on Friday, July 14.
The victim told the Boksburg SAPS that he gave his friend a lift to the informal settlement before his car was hijacked. When they arrived in Angelo at about 9pm, he pulled over to the side of the road.
While waiting for his friend to enter his shack, two unknown gunmen accosted him and pulled him out of the car.
They searched him and took his cellphone and then jumped into the car and drove off, leaving him stranded on the side of the road.
Stabbed
* A man was admitted in hospital after he was stabbed during a house robbery in Angelo informal settlement at about 1am on Saturday, July 15.
The man told police he was awakened by the sound of gunfire in his yard. Six armed men then forced their way into his shack.
Once inside, the suspects stabbed him while the others helped themselves to his belongings, including money, clothing and groceries. The robbers then left the victim to die inside the shack.
Reportedly, other residents also fell victim to a gang of robbers shortly after this incident. The same modus operandi was used and personal belongings, including clothing, food, money, kitchen utensils, were taken.
Several cartridges were found on the different scenes in the informal settlement.
Robbed
* On Wednesday night, July 12, three armed men forced their way into a shack in the informal settlement and robbed the occupants of their cellphones.
According to Boksburg SAPS spokesperson Sgt Cebisa Maseko, the homeowner and his three friends were inside the shack when the thugs forced opened the door to enter the shack.
Once they were inside, the crooks aimed their firearms at the victims, searched them and took their cellphones. No injuries were reported.
Maseko said the police are aware the residents of Angelo endure a lot of crime and gave the assurance the police have not turned their back on the community.
“For the police to end the criminal activities in the area, residents have to become ears and eyes for the police. It is time that the residents start sharing information with the police and identify the criminals who are terrorising the community.
“Surely the residents know the criminals? Nobody wants to talk to the police though,” said Maseko.
