Manhunt launched following brutal killing in Angelo

The Boksburg police have launched a manhunt for the gunman who opened fire on two brothers, killing one of them, on June 2.

According to the Boksburg SAPS spokesperson, Sgt Cebisa Maseko, the brothers were attacked by the gunman in Angelo informal settlement.

The shooting reportedly unfolded inside Ramashia tavern, located next to the Angelo Hotel on Main Reef Road, where one of the brothers was shot.

He sustained gunshot wounds but survived the attack.

A few minutes later, the injured man’s brother (Ntulhuke Sibanda), was shot about 25m away from the spot where his brother was attacked.

Sibanda was shot in the chest and he was certified dead at the scene. The motive for the attack is not yet established.

Police are investigating a case of murder and that of attempted murder.

The attack came less than a week after another man was shot dead in the streets of the informal settlement.

A massive manhunt is still underway for his killer.

Police are asking members of the public who have any information that may help them to solve the murder and attempted murder cases to come forward.

Torment

Residents of the area say they have endured years of torment at the hands of armed criminals who slay people on a weekly basis.

At least two people are violently killed in the informal settlement almost every week.

Concerned residents have many times threatened to take matters into their own hands, saying they felt that the people who should have dealt with the problem have failed to do so.

Their threats have, however, done nothing to scare away the killers or prompt authorities to end the cold-blooded killings in the area which has become a war zone.
