A spiritual eye to be equalled

Motivational guru Sid Webster from Libradene has this uncanny ability to find the spiritual in any natural situation.

He has spent his life developing his talents and made it his business to share those special abilities with his students.

Webster, who has over the years proven to be a dynamic and captivating speaker, is passionate about enlightening others to discover their passions in life.

“Learning comes from doing. Without doing, life would only exist in a dream,” he said.

“It is the body that carries the head (dream) to victory. These two must work together.”

Webster was born in Boksburg on September 3, 1948. He attended Boksburg High School where he was head boy in 1965; thereafter, he studied law at the University of the Witwatersrand.

While still at school, Webster became a professional soccer player in 1964. He also played professional cricket from 1966 until 1969.

Webster was in the insurance industry for 20 years and qualified in the early 90s as an educational kinesiologist, which he practises today.

He specialises in holistic brain training, motivational speaking, marriage guidance, trauma counselling, goal setting and spiritual awareness.

Webster has done more than 8 000 one-on-one profiles with children to help them with their study methods.

He said the profile determines whether there’s an intellectual or emotional blockage when it comes to studying.

“Dominancy plays a tremendous role in learning. Let’s say you are dominant in the left hemisphere of your brain. Even though we do use our brain in the whole when it comes to learning, you will find in most cases the right eye, ear, hand and foot is more dominant and takes in information.

“If this is the case, learning comes easier. However, let us say that with a person who is dominant in the left hemisphere of the brain but also dominant in the left eye, you will find there is a difficulty to process information and therefore to learn.

“It means in this case study the person is left-brain dominant, thus driven by logic, yet they process with the left eye, which is not naturally the reading eye. All of this causes problems when studying,” Webster said..

“After all, you will find in this case your right eye will read normally but your left eye reads the opposite way; your left eye doesn’t remember logical information, but remembers pictures and movement.

“However, with training you can change and strengthen your non-dominant eye. In this scenario, it will be your right eye which will help you read properly,” he said.

Webster has also done profiles on about 2 000 teachers for the education department, teaching them brain gym exercises and how to apply them in the classroom to help the children improve their listening, vision and writing skills.

“Learning is not only in the head; it’s also in the body,” he said.

“Once you get the body and the mind working together, you get a flow of energy which is good. The body can then be ready to take in information.”

Webster does staff profiles for big companies, too. He discusses the results with the personnel, so they can understand why they think differently.

Such profiles consist of analysing faces.

“Your face is made up of three parts which fit into your personality.”

Webster also does individual profiles for marriage counselling and runs marriage seminars, so that the husband and wife can understand each other and why they’re different.

“If they don’t understand each other, it could lead to divorce. Your latest figures of divorce are drastic. Love is not the problem, but how you communicate,” he said.

“For example, your right ear doesn’t hear what your left ear hears and your right eye doesn’t see what your left eye sees.

“Your right ear is a very detailed ear and it listens to what a person says; your left ear listens to how they say it.

“When you’re discussing something and the person raises his/her voice and you’re left ear dominant, you’ll think that person doesn’t like you and wonder why they’re shouting.

“There are 400 acupuncture points in your ears and they’re all linked to your body. Just by rubbing your ears, you can hear and listen better; very few people in this world are taught how to listen properly,” Webster said.

He said taking in information through the eyes and ears is 95 per cent of learning and studying, while smell is two per cent, taste is one and touch is two per cent.

Webster said everything we do as part of our communication expresses a meaning.

“Hands are how you write, communicate and touch. Feet are for decision-making. If you’re a right foot dominant person, you make calculated decisions and everything flows. The left foot is motivated by emotion.”

Webster’s talent is in observing.

“I’ll sit and look at a person and see how they react, and within a few minutes I could tell you basically how the person thinks,” he said.

“It’s a wonderful gift, because there’s no right or wrong. It’s a matter of seeing the inner person. Body language is something wonderful to watch.”
