Two people killed over the weekend in Boksburg

Two people were killed in different incidents in Boksburg over the weekend.

* In the first incident, a 29-year-old man was shot inside his shack in the newly established Yulana informal settlement, along Commissioner Road, next to Delmore Gardens.

The incident occurred at around 4am on Sunday.

Reiger Park police spokesman Sgt Mashudu Phathela said it is alleged that the deceased was in the shack, along with his girlfriend and a six-year-old boy (belonging to the girlfriend’s sister), when two unknown men entered the shack.

They flashed a torch light in their eyes and then shot the boyfriend without saying a word.

Phathela said the man was shot in the forehead and paramedics certified him dead on the scene.

Both suspects fled the scene and are at large.

“One projectile and a spent cartridge was found at the scene.”

Police are appealing to anyone who has information to contact Reiger Park police on 011-9167000 or 10111.

* In the second incident, a 21-year-old man was stabbed to death on Sunday at about 5pm.

Phathela said that a group of young men were playing dice in Honey Circle Street, Reiger Park when the deceased had a argument with the suspect.

“The suspect took out the knife and stabbed the deceased in the chest once. He was certified dead by the paramedics on the scene.

“The suspect fled the scene after but handed himself over at the police station later on.”

He was charged with murder. The knife used in the murder was found at the scene.
