Callous thieves ruin festive spirit in Boksburg

Thieves made off with about R82 000 worth of goods in separate raids on several Boksburg homes and businesses in the run-up to Christmas.

Criminals forced their way into the Boksburg Library on Trichardts Road and stole a stove, on December 15.

The thugs entered the library building through one of the windows.

On December 18, criminals forced their way into a Sunward Park home and stole valuable goods worth about R16 000.

The housebreakers forced open one of the windows to enter the property and stole two TV sets, a DVD player and other items – while the owner was still asleep in the same building.

Also in Sunward Park, burglars entered a house on Wesp Road and stole goods worth about R27 000 on December 19.

The thugs forced opened one of the doors to enter the house, before stealing a plasma TV.

Meanwhile, in Parkrand, criminals stormed a home on Van Der Post Avenue and stole goods worth about R29 000, on December 16.

The crooks forced opened one of the windows to enter the house and stole a TV set, camera, laptop and other valuable items.

In another burglary, thugs forced their way into a residential house at 140 Koning Road and stole goods worth about R10 000.

The complainant, a woman, told the police that she left her house at about 3.15pm and went to a party.

To her surprise, when she came back at 7.25pm, she discovered that the gate and one of her house doors were open.

She immediately called the police, who arrived and walked with her into the property to investigate.

Upon entering the house, they discovered that a laptop, jewellery and clothes were missing.

Police are now investigating cases of burglary and no arrests have been made so far.

The Boksburg police are urging the public to be extra vigilant and never to leave their properties insecure, particularly at this time of year when homes and businesses become prime targets for festive thieves.
