Water restored to large parts of Boksburg South

Water was restored to the whole of Boksburg South, Parkdene, Parkrand, Cinderella and some other parts of the city yesterday at around midday on November 8.

Residents in as many parts of Boksburg were without water since Monday, November 7.

No water interruptions were reported today (Wednesday).

Ward 32 Clr Marius de Vos said no clear explanation was communicated to them about what resulted to Boksburg South and other parts having no water.

“I am also appealing to the municipality to attend to water leaks. Our country is facing a water crisis at the moment so it is important to attend to water leaks as early as possible to save water,” he said.

According to Siphokazi Gunya from the Department of Water and Sanitation, the affected areas were already without water, on November 7, in the afternoon following the shutting down of water in the evening (water shedding).

“The Boksburg area was affected when Rand Water switched off the pumps in Swartkoppies, which resulted to some parts of Boksburg being without water,” she said.

Ekurhuleni Metro’s water restrictions schedule for Boksburg: Monday from 9pm to 5am, Wednesday from 9pm to 5am and Friday from 9pm to 5am.
