Actonville end Boksburg’s perfect run

Actonville Spurs ended Boksburg’s perfect start to the season with a comfortable six-wicket bonus point win at Prince George Park on Sunday, October 23.

The home side had no answers to Spurs’ bowling attack which saw them limited to just 130 in 38.5 overs.

Home side skipper John Haywood lost the coin toss to his opposite Kyle Degambur, who then sent the home side to bat first.

Boksburg were put under pressure early on as their top four opening batsmen were dismissed with 23 runs between them. The home side struggled to make a recovery in their innings, with Spurs maintaining the pressure.

Led by fantastic performances with the leather by duo Wilber van Dyk and Hussen Shakeel Ahmed, who took a hat-trick of wickets respectively, Spurs limited the home side to their lowest total in the new season.

Spurs were as efficient with the bat as they overhauled Boksburg’s total in just 20 overs for the handsome win.

Degambur finished with 43 in his leading performance, the afternoon’s highest score with bat in-hand.

Boksburg’s standout performer was Jarred James, who finished with an unbeaten 34.
