Man’s genitals cut off

A man’s half-naked body was found in the field between ERPM and St Anthony's Education Centre, with his genitals removed.

According to the Reiger Park Police, security guards were patrolling the area on October 16, when they stumbled on the body lying on the ground. .

They then immediately reported the gruesome discovery to the police.

The police and paramedics arrived and found that the man’s private parts were missing. The body also had stab wounds to the neck.

“We believe the man was slaughtered elsewhere before his body was dumped at the site, because there was no sign of struggle at the scene.

“The killer/s may have used a screwdriver to stab the victim in the neck, and a knife to cut off his private parts,” said Reiger Park Police spokesperson, Sgt Mashudu Phathela.

Although it was not known for how long the body had been lying there, Phathela stated that it was still fresh and had not decomposed at all.

A case of murder was opened and police are investigating.

The man had not been identified as yet, and police appealed to anyone with information to come forward.

Those who could help police solve the case and identify the man should call the investigating officer Det W/O Ben Olifant on 011 916 7000.

The man described as an African male, believed to be in his early 30s was wearing a blue jacket, blue trouser and his shoes were found next to his body.

The motive of the killing is unknown, and it is unclear if the body parts were cut off for muthi or ritual purposes. -@FanieFLK
