Metro to host 48 hour hackathon challenge

Tech savvy and innovative minds are invited to a weekend-long Hackathon to develop IT solutions that will help the metro accelerate service delivery in an efficient manner.

The Ekurhuleni Hackathon will be held from Friday, September 30 to Sunday, October 02 under the theme: A Digitally Connected City.

It will see close to 250 developers, web designers and engineers using various technologies, hardware and API’s to turn their ideas into practical solutions for the municipality.

Hackathon challenges will be presented to the various teams to solve through Big Data, Analytics, Apps and Open Data.

The prototypes will be pitched on the last day of the Hackathon, where the winning teams will be selected by the judges for a share of R150 000 prize money.
