Serving up an ace at Sunward Park tennis champs

The Sunward Park Tennis Club recently held its tennis championships which were held over two weeks.

The youngsters who featured were a real force this year and managed to upset some of the regulars.

This spells good news for the future of tennis at the club.

All matches were played in good spirit and the competitive juices were flowing. No one was prepared to give an inch.

In the end it was the consistency and technical skill of Charlie Bohloko that won him the men’s singles competition.

Charlie is a former pupil of Lebohang Tsasanyane, one of the existing coaches at Sunward Park Tennis Club, and the TUKS high-performance centre.

The runner-up was Marc Otto.

The men’s doubles competition was a close affair as the final score of 2/6, 7/5 and 11/9 reflects.

The experience and solid combination of the veterans Kevin Wilkins and Anton van de Venter ensured the win in the end. They have been multiple winners of this event over the years.

The runners-up in this event were Charlie Bohloko and Ethan Lee. Ethan is a pupil of Charlie who is an assistant coach at the club.
